DISTRICT SCOUT FAIR TICKET SALES CHAIRMAN
Basic Functions
Recruit a team of volunteers to promote the sales of tickets among Cub Scout
Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Varsity Teams and
Explorer Posts/Ships to achieve the District dollar goal of tickets sold.
Establish the logistics within the District for ticket
distribution and the collection and auditing of monies.
Evaluation Criteria
1. Be personally involved
2. Work
closely with your District Executive to develop and approve Scout Fair plans, materials, and
strategies for your designated area of responsibility.
3. Recruit
sufficient volunteers to assure that every unit in the District has the opportunity
to sell
tickets to the Scout Fair.
4. Communicate
and implement the Council Ticket Sales plan and related procedures in the
District. Emphasize ticket sales commissions and how the benefit the unit
treasury.
5. Attend
the Orientation meeting. Attend the Area Ticket Sales Kickoff Meeting. Attend
the Scout
Fair and opening ceremony.
6. Schedule, promote and conduct ticket
sales training for Unit Ticket Sales Chairmen.
Conduct
training with support of Council Ticket Sales personnel.
7. Establish the logistics of ticket
distribution and the collection and auditing of monies for ticket
sales. Secure an appropriate central location to serve as a District Ticket
Sales tum-
in center and recruit
needed personnel to staff the center. Turn in monies regularly to the
Council Service Center.
8. Conduct
weekly turn-in sessions with the District following the Ticket Sales Kickoff meeting and allocate
additional tickets as needed throughout the sales period.
9. Supervise
the collection of monies and unsold tickets during the day of the Scout Fair. F
Follow-up
with units not "cleared out" by 4:00 p.m. of that day.
10. Assure that all units selling tickets
understand that their ticket sales accounts must be c cleared (brought to
a zero balance) before commissions can be paid. Be responsible to following-up
with units until all ticket sales accounts are cleared.
11. Promote ticket sales at District
Roundtable and other District events.
12. Keep the District Scout Fair Chairman
informed of progress.
As with any leadership position, the
leader is best judged by the results achieved by those people who are led.
A clear understanding of the roles and evaluation criteria
for each of the other district leadership positions as provided in the manual
is critical to the leader's success.
