District Executive

Basic Functions

The District Executive is a full time employee of the Council whose job is to serve as advisor, counselor, trainer and motivator to the District Chairman and other District volunteers so that the district carries out the Council's plans and programs and achieves it's goals. The District Executive must have a close working relationship with the District Director and other District Leaders to accomplish the District's objectives through volunteers.

The District Executive supports the District Director and does the following:

1.    Support the District Director in planning and leading the District Key 7 meeting.

2.    Assist the District in every possible way to qualify for the National Quality District Award.

3.    Be thoroughly familiar with National and Council policies and procedures.

4.    Provide professional coaching.

5.    Propose plans and agendas, usually "pencil drafts" for consideration by others.

6.    Aid in suggesting action plans for recruiting district personnel.

7.    Give inspiration and encouragement.

8.    Maintain regular contact with heads of Chartered Organizations.

9.    Keep District records up to date.

10.   Arrange for Council services to the District.

11.   Provide vital behind-the-scenes administrative skill.

12.   Develop his or her own work schedule.

13.   Serve as a communication link to the Council office.

14.   Work with and support volunteers.

Evaluation Criteria

As a professional employee of the Council, the District Executive is formally evaluated by his or her professional superiors. Each one has a set of "Critical Achievements" or goals, which guide the District Executive's activities in the particular district.
