CAMPING
CHAIRMAN
Basic Functions
The District Camping Chairman, with the
guidance of the Vice Chairman Program, recruits, trains and leads a District
Camping Committee in full promotion of both Scout and Cub Scout Outdoor Programs.
Evaluation Criteria
1. Recruit
District Camping Committee to full strength, including
A. Camp
Promotion Teams (enough people to extend information and to promote all troops
within the district)
Responsibility:
a.. Summer Camp
b. Unit
Short Term Camping
c. National
Camping Award
d. Homaday Award
& Conservation Programs
e. High
Adventure Programs
f. Cub/Webelos
Resident Camp Promotion
B. Represent the District and
Promotion Sub-Committee of the Council Camping Committee
C. Help
Unit Committees provide year round camping for their Scouts,
including Summer Camp at one of our Council Camps.
D. Promote Unit participation
in District and Council Camping Programs.
2. Review with District
Executive(s) the district's performance in camp attendance (Cub - Scouting
camping); setting of and attainment of district objectives as agreed.
Time Frame and Time Requirement
1. Council
Camping Meeting in January, March, May, October
2. Visit
Summer Camps and Webelos Camps
3. Become
a member of the National Honor Camping Program
4. Other
meetings as needed to accomplish above description
As with any leadership position, the
leader is best judges by the results achieved by those people who are led.
A clear understanding of the roles
and evaluation criteria for each of the other district leadership positions as
provided in this manual is critical to the leader's success.
